What would Medusa say if she had a chance to speak for herself? Jessica Fudim’s dance-theater solo, Venomous, looks at the classic Greek myth from Medusa's perspective and moves her story beyond that of a snake-headed monster.
Fudim combines contemporary movement with amped-up party dancing, video projection, whimsical props, and moments of audience collaboration. As she leads us through ancient temples, and into Medusa’s fuller humanity, we dig into the complexities of who gets to author one’s own reputation, and who gets to be believed. |
AUDIENCE REVIEWS FOR VENOMOUS
"Words cannot express the love I felt for Medusa today."
"It was timely, amazing! Fudim's character covers the range of emotions, fully inviting the audience in frolicking joy to depths of darkness." "Your movement, storytelling, soundscapes, audience inclusion and narrative, was simply impressive. I loved every minute of it." "Wow!...It was mythic." |
“There are many myths, versions, and stories of Medusa, and pain, betrayal and hurt are at the core of them all. It takes a beautiful, healing soul like Jessica’s to sort it all out and find the survivor and hero in her story.”
